Breakthrough in Multi-layer Co-extrusion Composite Film Technology

As one of the core technologies in the composite film industry, multi-layer co-extrusion compounding has achieved several breakthroughs in recent years, driving the development of composite film products toward higher performance and multifunctionality. By combining different materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester, and nylon into multi-layer composites and precisely controlling the thickness and formulation of each layer, composite films can achieve precise barrier properties against oxygen, moisture, and light, thereby meeting the packaging requirements of various products.

Currently, the industry has achieved large-scale production of co-extruded composite films with 3 to 7 layers. For certain high-end products, the oxygen and moisture barrier properties can be as low as below 1×10⁻⁹ cm³/m·s, effectively extending food shelf life and protecting electronic components from moisture damage. Meanwhile, the integrated application of advanced technologies such as micro-foaming and precision coating further enhances the mechanical performance and processability of these composite films, enabling them to excel in terms of tensile strength and tear resistance.

Application scenarios continue to expand. In addition to traditional food and pharmaceutical packaging, the demand for multilayer co-extruded composite films in the electronics packaging sector is steadily growing. Thanks to their lightweight nature and high barrier properties, these films are well-suited to the trend toward miniaturization and increased precision in electronic products. In the agricultural packaging sector, there is also a sustained increase in demand for composite films with excellent weather resistance and tear strength, which are used in agricultural films and seed-coating films, among other products. Regionally, the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions have already established industrial agglomeration effects, driving technological upgrades and capacity expansion.
